International Criminal / Extradition Law

EXTRADITION LAW

Extradition is the process whereby a country transfers a suspected or convicted criminal to another country. This process between countries is usually regulated by treaties. The procedural regulations which are to be followed are usually subjected on the law and regulations of the country requesting the extradition. NCI Law Group has been involved in such procedures and dealt with cases in a wide range of countries.

In the last years extradition has become one of the most important and complicated areas of civil law. Involvement in the proceedings requires an extensive knowledge of the procedure nationally and internationally and assistance with a very short notice. When an application is submitted to the authorities requesting extradition of an alleged or convicted criminal, this person is arrested after the issuance of a court order and then the extradition procedure to the applicant country begins. Also, European Warrant of Arrest may be issued when a person is found in the jurisdiction of another member state in accordance to EU law. In both cases extradition proceedings are initiated.
